QUSTICS is an engineering and manufacturing firm, based in Lancaster, PA with nationwide coverage and international partners. We work on projects where the acoustic performance requirements go beyond what a standard catalog specification reliably delivers - where impact noise thresholds, vibration limits, or flanking transmission risks demand a closer look at how sound will move through the building and what materials are suited best.
Lead by Florian Sassmannshausen and Richard Herbert, QUSTICS partners with acoustical engineers, architects, and owners to match the right isolation strategy to the conditions and ambitions of the project.

Florian Sassmannshausen
Founder & President
Florian is the visionary behind QUSTICS, bringing more than twenty years of international experience in building and structural acoustics to every project. He began his career in the acoustics industry in Germany, where he started to develop a deep technical foundation that continues to influence his approach to acoustic design and integration today.
Florian’s focus is on delivering quality, constructible, and well-integrated acoustic solutions. He values close collaboration with acoustical consultants, architects, and project teams to ensure the best possible outcome.
Outside of work, Florian enjoys spending time with his partner and children, exploring the outdoors through hiking and travel, and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. An avid tennis player and an unrelenting critic of poor acoustic design, he’s known to quietly (or not so quietly) judge restaurants and cafés for their reverberant soundscapes, or hotels for their poor sound isolation between rooms.
Richard Herbert
Director of Operations
Richard is an accomplished professional with extensive design and construction experience in sound and vibration isolation across a wide range of architectural applications. He has contributed to projects including hospitals, mixed-use developments, and residential-over-commercial projects, cinemas, 4DX theaters, professional-grade home theaters. His portfolio also includes sound and vibration isolation for yachts, cruise ships, and speech privacy applications.
With a commitment to precision and collaboration, Richard brings a holistic approach to design and construction, integrating technical expertise with creative problem-solving skills.
In his personal life, Richard loves spending time outdoors, often with a camera in hand, capturing the beauty of the world around him. A passionate woodworker and sculptor, Richard enjoys bringing ideas to life through art and hands-on design. When he’s not wearing the QUSTICS-hat, you can also find him cooking for friends and family or volunteering in his community.
